As someone who's always on the lookout for new hobbies, I certainly never thought leather crafting would be one of them! The Basic Leather Crafting Workshop at Soul Flower, Co. was the perfect way to step a little bit outside of my comfort zone.

It was a little daunting at first, especially when it came time to do the saddle-stitching on the pouch, but the projects were pretty simple and lots of fun to make.

I gave my card booklet to my mother as a gift, but pictured above are all the projects I made during the workshop (plus a couple of extras)! Though mine wasn't exactly perfect, I definitely enjoyed making the bag tag the most since it gave us the opportunity to make our own designs using decorative stamps. Minimalism is a bit hard when you love floral patterns as much as I do!
After trying my hand at making the practical leather goods from the workshop, I decided to put my creativity to the test and experiment with projects of my own.
Using small bits of spare leather, I tried making fruit-shaped key fobs and ended up really happy with the results! I want to explore more designs in the future and perhaps even make my own collection of small leather goods.
It may be a while before I perfect my technique, but I'm positive that I'll be taking this pastime with me going forward. Maybe I'll even try making a bag next time!
